Players can change their current selection by holding the respective key ( 1 , 2 or 3 ), while pressing the respective key will cast that current dye or bait. Once the player has armed themselves with a fishing spear, the fishing gear menu will automatically appear on the bottom right of the screen, indicating the currently selected spear, dyes and bait.

In order for fish to begin spawning the player must first bring out the fishing spear from the Gear menu (default hold Q and select the spear). Note that it is not necessary to equip more than one spear (or any baits, dyes, etc.) as all available spears and other fishing utilities will be selectable through the fishing menu once any spear has been readied.Īfter the spear is equipped, players can head out into the Plains of Eidolon, Orb Vallis, or Cambion Drift to find eligible bodies of water such as ponds, lakes, ocean or exocrine.

Once a Fishing Spear has been purchased, the player can equip it in the Gear menu through their Arsenal.

To further aid in fishing, Baits and Dye may also be purchased. Once players have earned enough Standing with the associated Landscape's faction ( Ostron in Cetus, Solaris United in Fortuna and Entrati in the Necralisk), they are able to purchase a Fishing Spear at their fishing supplier ( Hai-Luk, The Business or Daughter respectively). Well, I hope the spreadsheet is helpful to someone out there.Mechanics Spear Fishing Preparing to Fish I add stuff on that page from time to time when it comes to mind. Pages for setups is in both metric and imperial.īait prices, tips and tricks was also added. Over time it grew to include all the locations with all the fish, the weight of the fish, the pay-per-kilo (Yes, the page is in metric), if it was worth going for XP-wise, prefered hook-sizes and bait I had used.Īs time passed, more lakes, fish and so on was added to the game, so I added sub-pages with suggested setups for float, spinning, bottom setups, casting and a carp page. In early 2016 I saw a spreadsheet that someone had started but it looked abandoned, so I made my own after some time, and posted it on the Fishing Planet Steam forum in march 2016. I fished in one lake after the other, fish after fish but soon forgot which setup to use where and which fish to target for best results, XP and money-wise. I started playing Fishing Planet at game launch in august 2015.
